Is it unkind to refer to an ex as a dead albatross?

There are some ex's I used to regard as a waste of space and time, but looking back everything that has happened in my life has lead to me the point I am at, and that is with my soul mate. Looking at it that way made me lose all anger I had for them. It helped me alot to look at it that way x
