Pc game from the 90's?

I'm looking for a game from the 90's. It was with a boy that had to collect crystals in order to finish the missions. And the missions were on different maps. Some of them had a lot of tar, some were with snails in the woods, and in one of them he is underwater and snorkeling. Does this sound familiar? Please help!
