Should I ask my mom to ign me homework over summer?

I originally wanted to ign homework to myself in order to not fall behind and forget everything over summer. But I wonder if telling my mom to ign it would enforce that the homework actually got done and to a higher standard. In other words, have her crack the whip. What do you think?
