How often should i exfoliate?

i have soap and glory flake away exfoliator, and it does wonders for my dry skin on my face. I have only used it once and it worked straight away, making my face feel a lot softer. I don't know how often i should use it as i read that if you exfoliate too often it can damage your skin.
